May 18, 2018, the US dept. of the  interior(DOI) released the final list of 35 minerals deemed critical to the US national security and the economy.

Shortly after, there was an angry letter from a ranking member because uranium was added to this list.  And he goes on with some details about his concerns. Interestingly he writes stuff like :  critical mineral enjoying streamlined permitting.
