Message: watay phase 2

Here's my question regarding phase II for this watay power project.

Since watay power LP will be majority owned by FN's(51%) and Fortis Inc. (49%), my question is..outside of the FN's themselves...who will be the other customers... for the power??

How will  the FN's and Fortis Inc. make money or pay for the maintenance cost of this transmission company??

"The communities are spread across a large area north of Pickle Lake and Red Lake, most of whom lack all season roads"

If most lack all season roads ..then how do you attract businesses or make money?

I thought Fortis must be nuts to do this...but then..when I look at Blackrock's Utility index  Ishares...Fortis Inc is their largest holding...so I guess they know something we don't.

Wataynikaneyap Power L.P. is a licensed transmission company majority owned by First Nations. The First Nations ownership interest is equally owned by 22 First Nation communities, and a minority interest in the partnership is owned by Fortis Inc. The Wataynikaneyap Transmission Project Phase 2 (the Project) includes approximately 1,500 km of 115 kV, 44 kV and 25 kV transmission lines and associated facilities for subsystems north of Pickle Lake and Red Lake that will connect 17 remote First Nation communities currently powered by diesel generation, to the provincial electrical grid.  Figure 1  identifies the Project location and transmission and alternative corridors.  The Project has been identified as one of the priority projects in Ontario’s Long Term Energy Plan, and Wataynikaneyap has been selected as the designated transmitter to connect communities. Wataynikaneyap’s principal purpose is to provide safe, accessible and clean electrical power to remote First Nation communities and to decrease the reliance on diesel‐powered energy generation which, consequently, will provide environmental, economic, social, quality‐of‐life and health benefits.
