With the discovery of large chromite deposits, their homelands in northern Ontario are now highly sought after. Extracting the chromite is a massive project that will open up the these lands for the first time; threatening the rivers, fish, wildlife and their very way of life. The Ford government continues to ignore First Nations and is desperate to see this Northern Ontario mega project go ahead. Premier Doug Ford has even vowed to open up the Ring of Fire to extraction even if he has to “hop on that bulldozer" himself.
Meet the communities on the frontlines holding Ford accountable to Indigenous laws in their territory.
Chief Wayne Moonias and Chief Elizabeth Atlookan will be present, and the evening will include a performance from an Indigenous youth hip-hop/pow wow crew.
**We will be accepting donations at the door, with a suggested minimum donation of $10. For those who can afford to give more, we would appreciate your support!
