Tequila,
your frustration is completely understandable.
You say you are fed up of words and want to see action. I think most of us will say we agree with you on that.
Tequila, I look at the facts.
Fact 1: both the north south route and east west route were in the Noront EA .
This funding study was given to the four FN's to see if they wanted this road to extend to their communities.
Together, the two governments are allocating $785,000 to enable the Webequie First Nation, in partnership with the First Nations of Eabametoong, Neskantaga and Nibinmik, to complete the regional community service corridor study.
The proposed all-season road would extend from the terminus of provincial highway 599 at Pickle Lake to the First Nation communities in the area and onward to the Ring of Fire.
So were are we today? Based on the pieces we've received , marten Falls and Webequie want to move ahead. The north south route would connect Aroland, Marten Falls , the Rof and Webequie.
perhaps at some point in the future the others will be interested in a road.
They were more than adequately funded and consulted...and they decided they don't want a road going into their reserve.
They wish to be remote ...but, look at the facts below. Look at the money spent for Neskantaga and Eabametoong for the upgrade for water treatment plant based on their population base. If future service or repairs are needed, on these very expensive new systems, do they expect taxpayers to fund flyin's when the winter roads are not frozen?
The link below is a gov't link.
https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1506514143353/1533317130660
when you open it ...scroll down to the end.
To the left you will see filters:
Type in Neskantaga. You can see the replacement of their water treatment system is in construction and expected to be finished march 2019
Type in Marten Falls. They are getting a new water treatment system and it is in construction and is expected to be finished Sept. 2019
Nibinamik is in the feasibility stage only
Eabametoong is in the construction phase and is expected to be finished Feb 2020
Webequie just needed repairs and work was completed April 24, 2018
=======================================================================
I believe the website of the construction companny Penn-Co out of Winnipeg who is actually doing this work is .....more accurate then the gov't site.

So for a population base of 1014, tax payers are paying 10.2 million for a water treatment upgrade
and yet...the reserves of Neskantaga and Eabametoong who had
The amount for Neskantaga cost 8.8 million for the water treatment upgrade for a population of...........................265 people. Yep. you are reading this correctly.
This is $33,207.00 per....person.
And yet, these two reserves have the absolute nerve to do this fund raiser.
