George Pirie, is the new mayor of Timmins, back in early Oct during his campaign, he said the following:
It was during his closing remarks that candidate Pirie outlined his position.
“I firmly hope we get the ferrochrome smelter with Noront. But I tell you, the people I would be sitting beside negotiating with Noront would have been the Indigenous people of the traditional territory where that facility would be located,” said Pirie.
“They’re the partner of choice for me. They will be the eventual decision maker. They’ve got to be beside our side.”
The Globe today is suggesting a Hydro Quebec -Ontario deal.
Ford is working on some sort of a rail transportation strategy that will be “reliable, effective and cost efficient.”
Sounds like the Mushkegowuk proposal will be heating up.
