Ford Government to Launch Consultations on Industrial Electricity Prices

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario's Government for The People will hold consultations across the province to hear from businesses about industrial electricity pricing and programs.

"If Ontario is going to be Open for Business, our job-creating industrial sectors need certainty around electricity prices," said Energy, Northern Development and Mines Minister Greg Rickford. "We want to hear firsthand their ideas on how our electricity system can make business more competitive."

Consultations will begin on April 1, 2019 on the Ontario online consultation directory. Electronic submissions will be accepted for 60 days.

In-person sessions will begin in April and will be held in every region of the province. There will also be sector-specific consultation sessions with key industries, including automotive, forestry, mining, agriculture, steel, manufacturing and chemicals.

"We're fixing the hydro mess we inherited from the previous government. That includes finding electricity pricing solutions for industry that position them to grow their operations and create jobs," said Minister Rickford.
