Message: Ontario Company to provide steel for the Joint Support Ships

Ringer,

this project involves the partnership of Lockheed and Seaspan. Lockhead is supplying systems that will enable these military vessels to operate in any theatre including high threat environments.

You pointed out : "Samuel Custom Plate will subcontract Algoma to provide steel plates which will be used to construct part of the hull of the JSS"

==================================================================

"To avoid detection either by aircraft or from below by undersea mines, today's military submarines and ships need a low magnetic and acoustic signature and, in this, the hull is made of austenitic non-magnetic stainless steel.

Stainless steel is much more expensive than structural steel, and it is certainly more difficult to work with. So, building a Naval ship cost a lot more than a commercial one."
