Golden words  "told me that with the grades of each mineral in Eagles Nest we will be able to open a mine no matter which mineral was the top performer. If nickel was down we would be a platinum/pladium miner, if copper was up we would be a copper miner."

A rehash - Chromium aside, Noront is still a pernucopia of valuble minerals. Back then Eagle was a nickel, copper, platinum, paladium and a bit more in that order on metal value.
Now platinim is replaced price wize by gold - who would have guessed. Also what platinum lost was more than replaced by palladium ( 3 times the price now of 10 years ago).

I think i was saying then that platinum alone would pay the cost of digging the minerals out of Eagle and copper would pay for processing of the ore. Namely that the nickel was going to be for free. Prices have changed but the total appears to be still the same.

It is a shame that a few near by communities are scaring off this golden goose for their own short (Long? lol) sighted greed.
