Wyloo Metals completed its acquisition of Noront Resources on Thursday. Ford said he couldn’t comment if the government has contacted Wyloo about its plans to continue Noront’s plans to build a ferrochrome smelter in Sault Ste. Marie. He repeated his government’s commitment to spend $1 billion to build a road to the Ring of Fire in the James Bay Lowlands. 

“With the support of the First Nation community, we’re both going to hop on that bulldozer as sure as I’m standing here,” said Ford. 

The provincial government plans announcements on transportation networks to get minerals, such as chromite, out of Northern Ontario. 

“Everything is on the table,” said Rickford, noting twinning of highways and railway corridors as options. “We’re moving forward on plans to ensure that the products that we produce here in Northern Ontario can be shipped out to the world.”
