Message: Dear Lethalgal...
Sambone, You say that you are fed up with a discussion of theology on this site. Herb had the decency and recognition that such a topic was not directly related to mining discussion in some people's view, and moved his response to lethalgal's criticism to the Off Topic forum. Yet you say you've had too much of this theological discussion and that you object to its continuation (yet you don't object to your obvious attempt at trying to 'have the last word on the subject'). Hey, you are the one wanting to insist that it is inappropriate for someone to have a wholistic viewpoint toward life, where their religion flows into their work ethic and their daily life. Where do you get off saying that it is appropriate (or even possible) to entirely compartmentalize one's views of life with one's views of mining - and what makes you think such a manner of compartmentalising that you demand is superior to a wholistic world-view, where religion and logic and ethics all must coincide? Sure, there are some distinctions where you can say "this is theology,", "this is mining," but perhaps they are not such 'bright-line' distinctions as you suppose. These radical divisions you demand do not exist for those who believe that God is alive and well and that he cares about our life in the here and now, and in all aspects of it, and not simply in the life in the hereafter. This that I represent to you is a viewpoint. I believe it is legitmate. You obviously don't. It differs from your viewpoint. But you are assuming a 'judge and jury' role to say that such a wholistic viewpoint of the spirit world and the physical world are totally disconnected. You've accused those who take such a viewpoint as 'judgmental'. It is not. It is their viewpoint, and if you think it is inappropriate for them to express it, then it is you who are being judgmental.
