Why can't the government restructure these mortgages and work with the homeowners to establish a payment plan? If they are able to buy up all the mortgages, they should be able to just restructure them. I don't understand why this $700 billion proposal is being forced upon congress, so deviously, and Paulson's several outbursts about it's embarrassing that is hasn't passed yet. AND IT WAS ONLY 3 PAGES LONG. Why does the dollar have to get hit so hard it's scary, instead of working on a solution to get this debt restructured? I'm trying to understand this all better because this a major decision for the future of the U.S.
