Your post holds the key as to why quite a few folks are not happy with you ...

You say, "However, I think that post does fit in with what is permissible on the main board."

You seem to have a skewed sense of what's permissible, and what is not, and you are not the final arbiter.

You just don't seem to want to support folks efforts to advance their knowledge base, and it's true that you thought I was being irresponsible by sharing info of a geological nature way back when, and you often clash with others more knowledgeable than myself.

Are you a geologist yourself? I am not, so I just want to know if you and I are both not geologists.

Perhaps you could adopt a friendlier tone when addressing issues you think affect the board content. I don't think you realize how heavy-handed you come across, and you make less confident folks afraid to open their mouths lest they receive a dressing-down from you. I wonder how many great posts we're missing out on, because of that?

I appreciate all the info out there, and even though there might be wildly opposing opinions, I like to decide for myself which side I'm on. If we have limited information, our decisions will impacted as well.

All I'm saying is that this board can be guided with a little more gentleness, and tact, and when long-time posters start leaving, don't forget we all have feelings, and shouldn't so readily dismiss the efforts of others.
