Interesting to see this footage taken from hearings in the 1990s regarding increased (and rejected) regulations around Fannie Mac.

Though this is obviously biased to the Republicans during the current campaign, it does bring up a good point that issues were raised in the past that could have reduced the US exposure to the housing crisis:
