Message: Old Joe's off-topic concerns

I tend to agree with Hoov's comments and philosophy re judging the appropriateness of posts. I think that members should pay more attention to the # of thumbs up they receive from other members for their posts....surely few or none indicates that other members, at a minimum, perceive that the particular post lacks any substance of interest or merit. My personal preference is to award no thumbs up and one point to a post if it does not appear to be particularly relevant to Noront and/or could have a potential affect on its activities in the ROF or in the market. I will, however, flag flagrant violations and am prepared to delete posts. I want to give members the benefit of the doubt, however, I have little patience with those who not only ignore the signals being sent and who also have the gall to complain about their "treatment" on a public forum.

Since this issue of censorship has really surfaced this past week, haven't you noticed that the total number of daily posts has declined and those that have been made are of higher relevance to most? For me, this has been a welcome change. Self-regulation can work...........let's continue to work on it!!

To my way of thinking, the membership of this board tends to be divided into two camps.....frequent traders and long-term investors. Each has its own unique expectations/requirements but with one common interest......to invest profitably. Unfortunately, every time the share price rises, there appears to be a flurry of posts ad nauseum based on renewed, perhaps unwarranted, optimism/enthusiasm from what I consider to be representatives of the former group...e.g requests for RTQ, house positions, TA, etc. Surely, if you are an active, serious trader, you would already have access to this type of information to make intelligent decisions.....obviously if you don't have access to timely data, I would strongly advise you to reconsider your investing strategy and/or perhaps enroll in an Investing 101 course to improve your trading acumen.

I personally don't care how many shares you own, when you purchased them or what price you claim to have paid for them. It is of absolutely no consequence to my investment strategy!!

Other types of posts on the main board which I think lower its quality include the following:

  • preaching
  • redundant
  • repetitive
  • lengthy
  • indicate no DD what-so-ever

Respectfully submitted
