The only sure way for northern Ontario to get noticed in the south is to threaten to separate. That idea raised it's horns many years ago and we ( I am a south Ontarian) took notice then. There was a concession of moving some ministries to Thunder Bay and other southern municipalities of N. Ontario, but that is about all and remainder forgotten.
I do not propose actual separation but to get the Greater Toronto ( more so Oshawa-Hamilton horse shoe) centered politicians and many citizens to wake up.
We make jokes about 'Americans' being ignorant about Canada, well same applies to south Ontarians about the near north and double for far northern Ontario.
Disclosure: I have never been further north than Timmins, so am partly guilty, Ed.
