Michael Curtis
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Curtis has more than 35 years of experience in the Canadian financial industry in areas including trading, research, corporate finance and the management of public companies. Beginning in 1972, he spent 16 years as an equity specialist on the Floor of the Toronto and Montreal Exchanges, working for Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. and later, as the chief equity trader for Prudential Bache Securities Inc., where he built a team of twelve stock and options inventory traders. He served on various committees at the Montreal Exchange and as chairman of the Floor Procedures Committee. In 1988, he left Prudential Bache Securities to work in the management and development of certain publicly traded companies. In 1991 he became a director of Aurtec Inc., a public company trading on the Montreal Stock Exchange, with which he was involved until 1993. In 1990, he became president and director of Granisko Resources Inc., a public oil and gas company trading on the Montreal Stock Exchange. In 1998, Mr. Curtis founded and became president and director of Cardwell Capital Inc., a private investment and trading corporation, which invests in small and mid capitalization public companies trading in North American markets
John Lang
Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary
A seasoned public company executive, Dr. John Lang brings more than 30 years of financial management and strategic business experience to his role as chief financial officer. He assumed his current position in October 2008, after having served as the company’s controller since August 2007. Prior to joining the company, he was an independent financial and accounting advisor to clients in the energy, healthcare and IT sectors. He has served as a senior officer in several companies including JSL Software Development LLC (CFO and controller, 2003 – 2005), Cloric Corporation (CFO and controller, 1999 – 2003), Longhorn Oil and Gas (CFO and director, 1980 – 1988), and the GHK Companies (controller, 1976; CFO and director, 1977 – 1980). He also founded and operated John Lang & Company Management Consultants, a provider of consulting and capital search services to the energy, healthcare and telecommunications industries (1988 – 1999). Dr. Lang is a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Philosophy in management science and economics from the University of Texas.
