As an alternative example of the risk,... if I were self employed, had a business idea, went to the bank, mortgaged the house, borrowed from family, etc etc, and went for it, would you critisice me? So what is the difference if a 40-50 something family guy takes a swing at another business they believe in, know management, etc?

If it is not a risk, why bother? Might be fun I suppose, buti if your pension is safe, your kids resp, etc, are you just toying with POET, or will the outcome make a difference to your life, good or bad? Or maybe you have thoughts about your community?

Anyway, I think the whole idea of risk management and investment theory for the 'middle class' is garbage and about to be canned as our world changes fast.
