Message: Day trader mentality

Dear yp_1,

so we should not blame a burglar, as he just has a desire to make money? I do! Hahaha!

Please do not feel personally attacked.

Just please try to take a more "humanistic" view on this game from "outside of the pot".

Yes, this is my personal position:

1. A long term investor is helping a company to develop - by giving capital and later asking for dividend and gain in value of this company. This is a big help for the economic system. e.g. here we help POET to develop highly interesting technology - and most people worldwide will profit. For sure, there is still a part of gambling involved...

2. A day trader is more or less a pure gambler - like in a casino, betting on short term developments, red or black, pair or unpair - for sure also with intelligent theories about the market and its psychology.

But there is an important difference: A Casino gambler is part of a closed system(casino), one is winning, the other loosing, and the community even profits (due to taxation, in many countries by direct casino profits).

With day trading the situation is different: I guess no or little tax for the community (as win and loss will over allbalance). But as day traders are in the same market with long term investors, I can see a big conflict with 1. Many investors are so sick about this gambling... And I know a lot of companies which were "ripped" and destroyed by short sellers. It is a gamble with a company, with empolyees. Do you see any good for a company to be traded by day traders?

So if you decide to see 1. as positive, you should see 2. more self critical!

Have a nice week
TF
