Sula, I liked what Doc Peralta's quote was, too. Although someone else probably wrote it, he probably polished it and the fact he embraced it tells me it's very unlikely he's leaving in any bad or angry manner and that's very, very good.
Ajit agreeing to be named co-chairman is further evidence of his getting more comfortable with the tech, and that's very good news. I would love to hear him give a presentation where he basically goes "all in."
As far as the SP goes, I was pretty impressed again today. First, the recent run-up could have been a prelude to this announcement and there was certainly a possibility of a "sell on the news" situation, to which we have proven to be susceptible on numerous occasions. Second, the SP survived my own "board giddiness contra-indicator" which, although it was not too bad over the weekend, soared this morning!! But although it appeared we may have been headed in a poor direction, things reversed very nicely.
The CEO search is still ongoing, I believe, although it's possible the candidates have been narrowed to five or less. If we get a relatively big name in tech, it should prove to be a major and immediate SP catalyst, if we don't, I don't think it will hurt us much, and, either way, we need to trust Ajit and PC to have selected a person that can get the job done. I'm hoping the 40nm is a reality before the CEO is selected and I'm hoping the CEO is selected no later than end of the first quarter.
