Last night I posted a link regarding Qualcomm's interest in the server market and in the article it mentioned Qualcomm's interest in possibly acquiring AMD (November 2014).

With the restructuring of AMD through recent changes of high profile executives at AMD - Rory Read, John Bryne, Colette LaForce and Raj Naik, there is plenty of speculation as to AMD's path for the future.

Maybe this recent rumour is, as you are speculating, part of a larger more significant JV, maybe it involves Qualcomm too? GF? Poet?

AMD is up over 12% since yesterdays article suggesting the takeover, trading over 28M shares today.
