"Believers" in a certain tech may often get in too early, but they will have generally have a better grip on the pulse and continuing progress of the company long-term, so if it is truly a monumental hold, they will hang on longer and reap greater benefits... the least of which will be a lower tax rate on the shares they eventually sell.
There are many who will buy in at a lower basis than many of us who will depart quickly and be on to the next roulette table. And, of course, there will be some who benefit by all the great DD here, who for whatever reason decide to get in at points flagged by technical indicators or myriad other reasons that turn out to be great luck in the scheme of things, and who hang on and do better than we do.
That's life.
We should all consider ourselves lucky to have found this opportunity NOW and not 30 years ago when GaAs was known to have great potential, but still was not ready for prime time. Imagine the $$ losses you would have suffered then, which would have embittered you to stay away from this opportunity NOW. It does appear that prime time is upon us now.
