This industry is planning and acting for the very long term, i.e. years ahead. Take, for example, Globalfoundries' new FD-SOI process: The presented it last week, but risk production will start at the end of this year, and full-scale production will start in the middle of 2017 only. Many months and quarters! These guys are used to the long term – and to delays.

Not so the average investor who is eagerly waiting for news. If not today, then tomorrow, or at least no later than next week! Maybe management really doesn't understand where the problem is if something takes another month or quarter.
