Here is my take on research being developed using silicon. Why would companies even consider using an inferior material such as silicon when POET has developed photonics using gallium arcinide. From what I have read in the past silicon based technology is susceptable to EMF waves - this can come from the sun or from a warring nation. So if I were a company producing semi conductors, I think I would seriously consider using a technology that would still be working after such an event. It "may" cost a bit more to produce but POET has proven the technology.

I'm not much of a tech geek but I don't worry when I see articles about silicon, now that POET has proven it's photonics...and no I am not pumping, just stating a fact!
