Phil, perhaps you missed some reading material put out by the company.

All of the words you list, "we are pleased to announce the VCSEL .... Optical Engine ..... Prototype......interested customers" have been stated in one version or another since the PIC presentaion back in March. The only one missing is "available now", but they did say "prototypes" would be available second half of this year for customers to test drive .
