I want to bring this up. My buddy PassionateIgnorance made the same comment to me. If POET was viewed as a disruptive threat to a mega cap tech, how hard would it really be to accumulate the necessary shares to take us out? Not much. And in the grand scheme of things (our market cap) we’re PEANUTS in comparison when considering this technology could be worth in the 10’s of billions one day.
I’ve seen this play out once before when ArcelorMittal started scooping up Baffinland Iron Mines shares (remember that). They accumulated over a period of months, then a rival shell company (that didn’t turn out to be rivals at all) made a hostile offer and the two conspired to take the company out at a paltry $1.35. (Still in class action litigation) I’m not saying this is what’s happening right now, but could you see it as a legitimate possibility, given that POET is likely not shopping itself like it might have done when it was purely an IP play in the Coppetti era?
