FJ and ITTR,
From my perspective, I sure wouldn't short this stock, there's just not enough upside and a significant downside at this point for shorters. So, why the short volume all of a sudden? Like FJ says, a significant price rise can lure some shorts, no question of that. And before I heard about the growing short volume, I had said this didn't feel like a financing, and the shot I gave it at being one a week or so ago, got cut in half in my mind. But then I saw the short report, as posted here and the financing theory raised its ugly head again.
Shorts get burned all the time, but so do longs. For a long time, people talking about shorts were doing that, just talking, there was no shorting to really be concerned with or even talk about, but now, that has changed a bit. The number of shorts isn't huge by any means, it's just large by POET historical standards, I believe.
If the stock holds its own tomorrow and I sell a few shares (something I haven't done in quite a while), and this little opera we've been watching is not about a financing, and the stock keeps climbing, I'll won't be jumping off any roofs. But I doubt I'll sell any, I'm still well below my average price of the high .70's US, and I do love the effect on my portfolio when this one rises a few cents! There wasn't much green about it yesterday, I'll tell you that! But POET was, and it cut into the losses meaningfully!
And FJ, if a financing were to occur at around .50 canadian (with no gimme warrants), while I'd be disappointed, I would say it was handled a lot better than last time around - that was the worst I EVER saw, and, believe me, I've seen some bad ones.
Finally, yes, I certainly said "where are the buyers?" And I'm certainly glad a few heard that and shouted their answer, "here we are, you donkey!"
GLTA tomorrow - got US Steel anyone? LOL
