It is understandable to possbily feel mislead. I have felt that way sometimes, too; but, then I had to think deeper about our management, their pragmatism, and the situation they were in along with the pressures they were under a few years back.  Basically, POET could have solved such PR misunderstandings by raising the curtain to provide a more high-level insight to their technology, but that might have given away their technology for free to others. So it was not that easy even to raise the curtain in more detail about the 4th pin.

There are always two sides to the story. Despite the tough situation the company may have found themselves in, they do really have a handle with their Interposer. The path may have changed from the "holy grail" to the InP platform, but (plan B) the dielectric technology is going to open a lot of doors as well. As nice sounding as Dr. Taylor's innovations are POET was probably never really ready to get everything right with that technology (GaAs) in order to raise the curtain; hence, the sentiment over that here. POET has enough expertise within their sphere now. When they can find the right partner for GaAs, I think they will do it down the road. The qualifier as Suresh has said is that one has got to go completely monolithic in order to get customers for that platform. It has got to be what customers want or all the research and development is pointless. So we must give credit to our management for having a roadmap and a plan B. All of this is never as easy as we think it is.
