@KROM... "how does Poet compare?"

Ok because you asked, here are my $0.02 worth...

They:

  • seem to be about quantum-dot laser sources (see LightBarâ„¢)
  • seem to be about optical ring oscillators (GT/POET has the GaaS equivalent)
  • do sport a 'CPO' logo
    • it's a board with a stamp
    • is that an American Eagle there for size? (you would think a CDN Co. would use a Loonie or a Toonie)
  • do not seem to be providing a "platform" solution per se
  • make no mention of manufacturing processes - or ability to scale and deliver (supply chain)
  • make little mention of addressible markets and verticals beyond Data Center
  • are in bed with the 'typewriter people' (tongue in cheek on that one)

They are not publicly traded.

When their investor list shows the Canadian Governement and its EDC off-shoot-arm... well, enuf said on that.

I surmmize:

  • they are definitely innovative in the space they are working - all players are welcome :-)
  • they are a fair ways from being able to provide industry consummable technologies and solutions across multiple markets/vertical (see POET Technolgies)
  • in the early days they will may not 'set the tone' for photonics and CPO but may contribute.

I can't/won't knock em though because:

  1. they are from my home town (a.k.a Silicon Valley North)
  2. they are probably the same breed of folk as MillCraft (anyone remember them)

And as usual...

IMHO

Thery make no mention of process of addressible vertivcalsrs
