From the press release there is also a genereal sentence about some performance metrics: 

"The Alpha samples demonstrate excellent margin to the transmit link budget at operating temperatures with excellent optical eye margins (an optical eye is a fundamental measure of data signal integrity)."

I've keep hitting the wall when it comes to comparing performance metrics for POET'S optical engine but it is possible to have any form of understanding of what it means when they state that it has "an excellent margin to the transmit link budget" and "execellent optical marge eye margins" ???

What are the industry standards?

Does Poet exceed these standards?

How is this valuable to the potential customes and partners?
