Maybe I get this wrong, but I think that is not the point here.
100G-products have no problems with their footprint. That ist getting more important as the bandwidth increases.
Producers are POETs customers. At 100G it is important to produce masses in high quality but cheap. POET with its waferscale process on the existing production machines and known good die is the key. POET says it´s easy, fast, safe and cheaper than the rest. Advantage POET.
My normal szenario: If it´s easy to change the production process, some smaller companies will change to POET as a first step. If they can produce the same quality (or higher) but are able to lower the offering price, the others also have to come to POET or to leave the market, what increases the ordering numbers at POET´s existing customers.
Best case: Big players ordered test modules and will flood the market very fast.
Worst case: The cost advantage is consumed by the cost of processual changes. No one dares to switch to POET. If the market for 100G modules is expected to exist for several more years, this is very unlikely I´d say.
