Used as in to keep hope alive? That has worked. Used to move the stock price - failure! 

It was brazen with Copetti. The story about the visitors to home office that were gonna but the company for $4 a share (stock was trading less than $$2 at the time).  The word was to hold on to your shares. It was a laughable rumor. But I do think the stock went up some the next day or two.
