For the Ayar fans, the vital comparisons are not between Ayar and POET. The battle for OIO supremacy will be between CAI's Photonic Fabric (POET enabled) and whoever finds a competitive solutlion using Ayar's technology. Ayar: OIO chip to chip. CAI: OIO chip to chip and within the chips. 

Ayar could never have imagined in early days that someday somebody like CAI would come of nowhere to essential surpass Ayar's accomplishment and put Ayar into a secondary position for OIO replacing copper interconnects. 

The latest demonstration by Ayar and Intel was 4 trillion bits per second transport.

The current 8 lane Starlight for CAI transports data at 7.2 trillion bits per second. On the horizon is 16 and 32 lane Starlights which double to 14.4 and 28.8 trillion bits per second.
