I am aware that this usually occurs in the three day window prior to year end.

This year however I get the sense that given the apparent market bottom some people are selling now in order to firm up the loss which can be carried forward forever. They will then be in a position to perhaps re-buy after the 30 day required period when most people are doing their loss selling at the end of December.

I guess the test of my theory will come on Monday when that particular window will close.
