The mention of the name U City brings back memories. In addition to the way the natives were used there were other issues such as the careless disposal of the tailings, which were scattered all over on surface. I don't know if they've tried to clean it up yet. In the early 80's when I was based there for a short time it was a tough place. I was warned not to go to the bar at the U City hotel but went to take a look anyway. I walked into the bar with my junior and saw the pool table resting on it's side and several fights in progress. So we headed over to the Legion where the beer is always cheaper and no fighting allowed. We were joined by a tough-looking and drunk native who kept saying two things, he really needed a good fight and he used to be PPCLI. When I figured out that he used to be Princess Pats and congratulated him, he was happy and wandered off. Lots of Northern Saskatchewan stories to tell , including some life threatening ones( with Mother Nature), but I'll wait until Vegas.
