Another thing to keep in mind is that pyro torches would currently be used for existing furnace builds.  Upon proof of viability, once engineering firms build for pyro torches, the real savings will occur. I can only guess that furnaces can be built far smaller than current designs which can mean savings in cost (build times, material savings), and savings in emissions as well (less building materials, less contractor activity (vehicles) on the project.) Ultimately, it should be a win-win down the road.
