We are a reflection of our parents in the end. By my experience in what I see in you from a distance, mom and dad must have been a candle in the wind lighting up the path that you've been on to make them proud. You dad passed a proud man for certain. 
He was assured that you would carry his legacy in that you will contribute to man/womankind.
