What a hypothetical. Thanks for posting the brain teaser...

The thinking would work like this I think:

What is the cheapest method to get it there on time for the client to do what he needs to do.  Do we have the extra time to do it the cheapest way?

If not...what is the tradeoff...if we spend an extra $1 do we get an extra $1 in return on the back end (by getting there faster)

Once we have all the options...we chose.
