This is just something general that I wanted to share. Now we've only really seen opposition to shale in the past year or so, so where was everyone 10 years ago when this started? Most places exploring this shale, are nervous because of bad press, fear mongering but generally because they have no idea what it's about. Now don't get me wrong, some companies have done a very poor job and tarnished the name. I mean Toyota, super respected company considered a leader, recalling millions of cars won't tarnish the auto industry. The oil and gas industry is just looked at differently, and more heavily scrutinized. Most of the things we are are from extreme environmentalists though, but nonetheless. Let's forget that oil and gas accounts for huge money in this country and jobs etc etc...in a huge way, and same for the US.

That article is explaining technologies. Now yes shale can have problems like most industries do. Always and inherent risk. We here all know fracing can be 100% safe if the proper steps are taken...a million wells with little contamination prove that.

What we are seeing is a changing of the times though...and I mean in technology. More and more I'm hearing about new fracing techniques without using chemicals etc etc. 20 years ago, could anyone have imagined the computers we use, tablets, cell phones smaller than your hand. I remember old school movies in the 80's where cell phones took two people to hold them looool...well not that big but pretty huge nonetheless. Oil and gas drilling has come a long way indeed. To think in the 70's Quebec had gas, but no shale technology like today to get it out. That in itself, that one little technique has revolutionized the industry and literally made the US and Canada self sustaining on energy...or very close. No need to outside resources. The technology for fracing is no doubt going to improve rapidly here imo. Everything else seems to be, and I'm sure they are looking for better ways. We've already seens new techniques with good frac results, so expect it to completely remove any risks with polluting that we have inherent today in the next few years.
