i remember a discussion at the time about this as to how odd I found that comment (I believe made by DM). At least I recall I tried to have one on this board.
If half were on a placebo, it would make sense that half of the test subjects weren’t getting the great results they wanted. If that is the case (and they remain blinded), then why would ALL of them want to stay on “the treatment”. Particularly because half of “the treatment”’was sugar pills.
If a subject has a mace event, was there treatment discontinued? And if so, why would they want to stay in the treatment after that, when the study was to reduce the likelyhood of reducing incidents of mace. If their treatment was continued after the mace event, then same question, why would ALL the subjects who had a mace event unanimously want to continue “the treatment”
What are the odds of thousands of subjects ALL wanting to stay on “the treatment” after that. Has any one of us ever seen that large a group of elderly people THAT content with their treatment?, any kind of treatment?
It was a very odd comment in my opinion.
