KK2 and narmac - Both of you are correct. In order not to have to do another Phase II trial with Crestor/Apabetalone the FDA required the trial to have both statins in this BoM trial. They had the choice to complete another Phase II trial with Crestor/ABL that would cost time and money and then start a P3 trial with Crestor/ABL at a time later than this BOM started. The savings was the time to design and implement the other P2 trial but the single biggest benefit would be lost sales if this BOM trial is successful. I estimate about 2 years of time was saved by going with this design. If I'm anywhere close on my peek sales numbers before the patent expires that would be in excess of $40 billion in financial benefits.
Given the above we are all saying the same thing. Let's just hope ABL works the way we believe it does.
