Yes there are some adverse event and side effect issues with SGLT2 inhibitors. All drugs elicit some adverse events and side effects. See this post. Look at pretty much any full data publication for a drug and you will see the list of side effects and adverse events. I won't be surprised if apabetalone has some too once that full data is published or presented. DSMB reports are not going to detail all of the adverse events and side effects that occurred. DSMB reports would likely only mention something if it was severe, occuring in high frequency and deemed related to study drug.
Drugs like SGLT2 inhibitors have completed many trials and accumulated a boatload of patient years, enabling the observation and documentation of adverse events and side effects in many patients over a long time. Apabetalone has not been tested in anywhere close to the number of patient year observations as the SGLT2 inhibitor class has.
Also, jbuffet62.... I don't know what the Jardiance or general SGLT2 inhibitor market is valued at.
