City ... you will get better answers elsewhere haha ... but I "believe" he was saying that apabetalone has no visualized "direct" anti-viral activity that they can see or surmise, it does not kill viruses. However it inhibits the needed environment for them to replicate (somehow?), so it stops the growth of the inhabiting virus, limiting its activity, spread, and impact, as it dwindles ... like a campfire dying out as the wood burns away, or is de-oxygenated? Not a virus killer, but a virus limiter?
I believe he said there was no decline in the study, but no growth either. Not up on my microbiology, so not sure if viruese need to grow in numbers, or numbers of hi-jacked cells to do more intenisive damage like bacteria or not? But it seems there is logic or at least thought to "explore" that apabetalone may be able to limit the pervasive growth and effect of these viruses once diagnosed and administered in a timely way?
... I may be wayyy off in my interpretation though, and not nearly enough science background to explain my interpretation of the comment.
