It is understandable, as GP mentioned, that they need to disclose that information as a public material concern (we haven't paid our bills, and that might end up being a problem).

I am also swayed by the argument that GP makes that Don likely thought something would be wrapped up by now, so no need to worry.

Yet, this is an embarrasment. Steps should have been taken to ensure such a statement never entered into the public record.  It does damage to the company's credibility, and raises legitimate concerns about decision making which could certainly hamper public confidence/interest and throttle the share price.
