Pfizer is not winner yet. Also, apabetalone is not competing with Pfizer pill. Rather, their mechanism of actions are complementary. (Also, Merck and Pfizer pills complement to each other, at least in terms of MoA). Apabetalone has a huge chance for success, if proven efficacy.

Other things to consider:

1) Virus still can mutate to escape Pfizer pill

2) Pfizer pill has to be taken in a very short time window

3) Apabetalone has a potential to be used for long COVID
