I read a statistic somewhere that said that outcrop (rocks exposed to surface) covers only 2% of the entire world, the rest is water or overburden (soil like clay/loose rocks or dirt) Yet 95% of the deposits in the world were discovered when it outcropped to surface The other 5% were discovered by drilling.

They probably don´t stop 100m from surface, there´s probably just a big old swamp there
