Most people, when they meet Neil, warm to him quickly. I don't know what an "old time prospector" looks like, but if I was to imagine one, he's it.
He knows his geology, and loves to talk about the geology of McFaulds. He's very hard working and is wedded to the success of SPQ and his fellow JV partners.
For example, when Mike Kilbourne (Billiken mgmt) phoned about the drilling at DE2, he (Mike) said to Neil, "You gotta get up here to have a look at the drill cores." Neil was on the next plane (so to speak.)
Neil knows his "product" - the rock beneath his feet at McFaulds. He's tough, and he ain't going to go cheap. Bet on it.
