So the flavor of the day for the "talking heads" is base metals. Perhaps tomorrow it will be golds; and in a couple of days it will be ... god only knows.
I heard that Deutche Bank says the USA is in recession. Duh. But that by the third quarter everything well be back "on the rails". So much for a deep recession.
However, as you pointed out PM, the printing presses have been working overtime in the US of A. By the fourth quarter inflation may go nuts, and interest rates will be ratched up quickly. The subprime greed is going to reverberate for a few years.
So how does this affect SPQ and the Ring of Fire? Clearly if base metals do well, the large number of VMS deposits look mighty good. I haven't looked at gold today, but some think it will retreat to U$850 range. Not for long, I bet. $1500 by the Fall of 2008 is my thought. So this also bodes well for SPQ and its PGM plays.
I did try to phone Neil this a.m. but he was in someone else's office. I'll try again this afternoon here in Toronto.
Snug :)
