Snug and gang..
From my limited experience .. I believe you will find core is stored in different size boxes. If one looks at Agoracom's SPQ pictures you will see a core box with 3 rows per box. The same type of 3 row long box is pictured clearly on Agora's Skyharbour picture site.
But on the ARU site, the picture there shows shorter boxes with 6 rows that appear at least, I think, appear about 2 ft or so in length...
From my recent travels to Red Lake and to Sioux Lookout, Ontario, the core is put in the core boxes on site at the drill immediately. The filled and closed boxes are now moved a core shack once or twice per day that may be on site, but in many cases, might be located in a nearby town.
At this core shack, the core is inspected by the company's geo and I am thinking that he can will decide if all or perhaps, only sections of the core that are of interest to him are then split in half with a diamond saw at this core shack site.
The 1/2 of the core selected is pakaged and shipped shipped to the lab along with known special value recorded specimens for the lab to also perform the lab work on . The special value specimens that are included are only known to the geo's for their content . In this way, the results of the special value additions, that are separately completed from the main core samples, will give the submitting company and their geo's a degree of knowledge of how good the lab is at their lab work.
The rest of the core, remaining in the same numbered box, that displays the hole info and depth form which it was taken, shall than be placed in a secure core storage for any future work or checks as needed.
Hopefully , you will find this infomation to be as correct as the writer believes it is at this point of time.
Regards to all and I continue to gain knowledge daily.
I hope
