I'm not sure how the Government of Canada could be a player in the financing of the ROF in any substantive way. A year ago they could have participated in infrastructure funding but that pool of cash won't apply for projects beyond 2010. Maybe EDC (Economic Development Canada) could back the financing from the perspective of exporting Canadian product (ferrochrome) abroad. Other then that it gets pretty tricky. I know that railways are federally regulated but I'm not sure if there are any financial incentives for rail development. The reality with the feds is that if you can't point to a designated pool of cash they don't fund things. With the recent budget getting new sources of fed funding is going to be tough. For sure there is going to have to be government money I just don't see how the feds could contribute. So I'm not sure what role the feds could play. Anyone have some concrete ideas on how they could fund this?

The Province of Ontario on the other hand could step up in the budget or by targeting Northern Development funds. Maybe we will see the provinces response next week in their budget
