I understand your cynicism. I guess by "direct involvement" you mean taxpayer dollars. Or is it "dictating the rules" e.g., environment? Whatever it is, we know our government is going to surprise us. Hopefully in a pleasant way. Ha!
I see future ROF negotiations like a three-legged stool. Without any one of the three legs, you're on your butt. As an investor I would love to see the government say "here's the bucks", the First Nations say "here's the land", and Cliffs to say "here's $1.00 for each share". But it ain't likely to happen.
One thing I do know: direct and concerted share holder intervention with government MPPs will get their attention. More importantly, if those shareholders are constituents and have a vote, the politician will listen.
